It's five issues written by Zac Thompson, drawn by Germán García, and colored by Matheus Lopes.
It tackles the titular protagonist from a " person's symbiotic relationship with the world they're in " angle, similar to the ones Thompson employed in Lonely Receiver and I Breathed A Body.
Its basis for that approach is in continuity - in a 2013 " Savage Wolverine " story, Ka-Zar's wife Shanna the She-Devil died and was revived with a supernatural connection to the Savage Land. Seven years later, in the Avengers Empyre tie-in, Ka-Zar died and was revived with a similar connection.
Issue #1 opened on Ka-Zar waking up and coming down from his house in the trees to Shanna.
They basked in their sense of the Savage Land, then turned to their offspring.

" Meet your new living outfit. "
She slapped it on him.
Elsewhere, in the direction Ka-Zar intended to go, the boy Matthew and the sabretooth tiger Zabu were saving two other inhabitants of the Land from one of its T-rexes.
The dinosaur was down - and then its body bulged and split open:

Ka-Zar arrived on the scene at that moment, followed by Shanna.
They saved their son from the dinosaur's maw and tentacles with their mastery of, and synchronization with, the flora and fauna of the Savage Land.

Ka-Zar took the dinosaur off Shanna's hands and disposed of it.
It came back in their dinner conversation that night.

Ka-Zar wondered why Matthew and Zabu'd been out in danger.
" I told them they could go out. "

Matthew bounded off, leaving his parents' discussion behind him.

(Matthew's opinion on his uncle is probably in the vein of " sick joke ".)

(The inside of Matthew's bracelet at dinner isn't the only foreshadowing of the name on the cable there in this issue.
Pagecount's under 4 of 20 - lettering's Joe Caramagna.)

Date: 2021-09-13 03:57 am (UTC)Seems that Shanna forgets that "Nature is Red in Tooth and Claw."
Also not so sure about this whole "Painting with all the colors of the wind" take on Shanna.

Go ahead, Marvel, try and make a MCU film about Ka-Zar, I dare you.
I don’t know, a Ka-Zar or Sheena movie could be pretty cool.
Date: 2021-09-13 03:02 pm (UTC)Shanna is a bit iffier, but she’s got literal jungle superpowers and always had a connection with animals, so bleh.

Date: 2021-09-13 02:03 pm (UTC)He has a lot of question's about his parent's philosophy/religion whatever, he feels like his parents are emotionally distant, and he's the odd one out being the only one not personally connected to the Savage Land.
Feels like maybe his parents should put their other shit on pause and actually talk to their kid.

Date: 2021-09-13 05:30 pm (UTC)Also, I don't know if this is intentional, but I'm kind of getting a Krakoa Tie-In vibe here between the Savage Land telefloronics (although apparently Kazar and Sheena can connect with fauna as well? Quick- no one tell Beast) and the nature-tech/robot stuff.
