With the real life Mark Millar, well don't honestly know his politics. He publicly supported the Labor Party but retweeted Jordan Peterson. So eh...
But with Mark Millar's own work instead of the person himself, at least a few of his comics lean conservative. Civil War was a Bush-era Neo-conservative news inspired comic where the Bush Security State analogues were ultimately declared the good guys for instance.
But what Die! Die! Die! reminds me of the most is the Ultimates and Ultimate Avengers. Ultimates always felt to me like their superheroes were representations of USA Neoconservative interventionism, and it was a glorification of it. Although you could argue that it was satire.
Die! Die! Die feels like the Ultimates but instead of the heroes representing and glorifying Neo-Conservative war-mongering, the heroes are representing and glorifying Neoliberal war-mongering. Instead of having Bush pop up for a few cameos in Ultimates, it's a thinly veiled Hillary Clinton analogue as the protagonist.
Although I've mostly stopped reading Millar after Old Man Logan so maybe his work has changed.
Honestly, as we are in the throes of an idiot conservative regime, I just find any liberal fantasy escapism almost painful.
I'd prefer this world over our current one, don't get me wrong. But this kind of stuff, so far from reality given the issues we face, I can't help but cringe.
