I'm not quite sure why Dinah is in such a mood at the end there, is this when she was arguing with her mother? Or is it that she wears a blonde wig herself.
Admitting you happen to like blondes isn't a particularly offensive thing to say, is it?
It's a combination of her not actually being blonde and Hal basically reducing her mother to being "the sexy one" in the JSA, that and at this point Dinah was annoyed that in the middle of fights Barry and Hal kept diving in the way to "save" her in the middle of fights. Because as "the girl" they thought that she needs defending.
The fact that Hal asks Barry later if Dinah's "still gassing on" about the JSA, indicates that he wasn't exactly that respectful of Dinah either though.
I took it as that she thought Hal was genuinely complimenting her mother (which he probably was), but his last line about having a thing for blondes made it just seem like he was saying that to come on to her
His jabbing at Aquaman is so damn childish. I'm never fond of people who think it's their duty to make everyone 'loosen up'. Especially when all they're doing is making fun of the person/people.
Hal is probably the guy who goes to a house party expecting to *be* the party. Probably the guy who finds the acoustic guitar at the party and thinks it his time to shine.

That "space sheriff" line reminds me of something about "Hard Travelling Heroes" that Kurt Busiek said. Originally, the Green Lanterns were supposed to be "space sheriffs" not "space cops."
I remember that. IMO, Kurt hit the nail on the head when he said that being a foil for GA meant that anyone who wasn't Black Canary was automatically wrong.
This and "The Brave and The Bold" miniseries made me love Hal and Barry, especially Barry as his whole characterization was "the only sane, normal guy in a room full of crazy people"
You gotta love Hal here. He's a fun lover plain and simple. Sure he was being a little mean to aquaman but I doubt it was malicious, plus bc laughed, she didn't really defend arthur here so shouldn't she share some of the heat?
I still maintain that Hal's personality was extracted when he stopped being the Spectre. He seems in the current comics to be just as much "generic heroic dude" as Barry Allen.
And I maintain that that's utter nonsense . Hal Jordan has been characterized as a hot-headed and a little arrogant, and also always does what's right no matter what, and his relationship with Sinestro is one of the best parts of the Green Lantern mythos.
I didn't give a damn about Jordan until Johns brought him back as a Green Lantern, so I admit I'm a little biased.

A sheriff enforces the law on his own, and as he sees fit (again, in fiction) without someone breathing down his neck.
