MTMTE Chromedome/Rewind fan comic

I don't usually post here, for fear of doing it wrong, and I don't usually promote my personal stuff, because I sort of assume it's not relevant to anyone's interests but my own, but...tumblr seemed to enjoy this comic, so maybe you will too?

And as I've noted before, it's not even entirely clear which of them is going "Wow!" so either one might be having their mind blown by the experience! ;)

That's a scene from Return to the Forbidden Planet, a rather fun stage musical based on the 1956 movie "Forbidden Planet", which was in turn based on Shakespeare's "The Tempest".

RttFP uses musical numbers from the 50's and 60's sung and performed live by the cast; Spaceship control panels and the like are used to conceal kepyboards and drum kits and others just pick up guitars and play, and Ariel is a robot on rollerskates.

If you get a chance to see it, I do recommend it.

I picked that version in the link because she sings a good version of the Connie Francis original, and her little skipping go-go dance steps are adorable.

See also Brainiac-5/Superboy in the Legion of Superheroes cartoon. The android Brainy's little crush on Superboy was both adorable and as close to being acknowledged in story as anything I've ever seen.

I'm a big fan of the idea of Transformers romance, but...hee. They need to install lips!

Lips vs faceplate seems to be a subject with various opinions.

Orion Pax got lips once, and he was all, "Mmn, no, I prefer the faceplate."!

Fanwork of kissing Cybertronians without the term "glossa". Who knew?

Just THIS ONCE, the Bayformers idea that Cybertronians like Optimus Prime have mouths and lips behind what is actually a protective faceplate sounds good.

I don't think Bay was the first to have that. I might be wrong, but I thought at least one of Optimus Primal's bodies had that as a feature (I want to say the Transmetal one).

Primal's original body's face would morph together into the face plate whenever he got serious or took off flying.

I knew I remembered it doing that...but I couldn't bring myself to sit through the 90s CGI, and Megatron's verbal ticks* and confirm it.

* I sat through about 5 minutes of episode one, and Megatron ended almost every sentence with 'no', or 'yes'...it was absurd.

Though shalt not speak ill of Beast Wars in my presence (Well, all right you can, but I'll be making a sad frowny face as I'm reading it and I just hope you can live with that!).

Mainframe's CGI was superb for it's era, and I'll defend Beast Wars charactetisation and plotting as being perhaps the strongest Transformers has ever had. The five episodes at the end of Season 2 - "Code of Hero", "Transmutate" and "The Agenda 1,2 and 3" remain the best of any iteration I can think of.

Cybertron Optimus Prime did the same thing when going into Super Mode. I think it's just a panel sliding to cover the gap, though.

IDW has that on a few bots too, though it's not universal.
