There's also John Constantine and Madame Xanadu in JLDARK.

Assuming that hasn't been removed too, like Barbara's wheelchair, Clark's personality and DiDio's credibility.

To be fair I think DiDio's credibility went away a long time ago for most people.

I wish writers would take advantage of Constantine's bisexuality more in ways that don't start with the other guy being evil and end in the other guy getting killed off.

Refer to my icon.

And they never seem to mention his alleged past boyfriends.

AFAIK Constantines bisexuality is more a matter of intrepertation than a stone cold canonical fact.

Every time the bisexuality is mentioned, it is always through the eyes o somef other person or witness who saw what happened in the underground sex club...
Considering Johns knack for misdirection and playing a con, I think he may have staged the whole thing, especially since that entire story is told through different peoples eyes, and not through Johns at any time.
Also, considering that no other writer AFAIK have ever touched on the subject since Azarellos run, and that the bisexuality hasn't even been mentioned once, not even in some of the official DC/Vertigo summaries I have read through the time.
The most detailed one in my opinion (the one in All his engines) for example (which came out during Careys run, right after Azarello) mentions only the underground sex club, but not any bisexuality.
It does however mention every single of his girlfriends without skipping a beat...
Also, that not a single author has touched on the material that Azarello paved through with may also be a indication that John was only playing a con...

A shame really, because I liked the chances Azarello took with the Constantine character, who was already at that time slowly turning into the Constant One...

In case you have any interview/link/information that should prove me wrong, by all means make me stand corrected :)

Just one scan preceding the Azarello run a long time ago, I forget which, where they mention offhand that Constantine has "girlfriends, the odd boyfriend, they all leave eventually" etc etc. I dunno which issue it was but I think I saw it on a gayleague profile of Constantine. :)

AH HAH. Here. http://www.gayleague.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/hellblazer51page5b.jpg
Says there it's Hellblazer 51.

I believe with that, we can say that Constantine is mostly straight and prefers women but isn't adverse to being with a guy depending on the situation. I'm sad that in his history, they only use a situation where he has to take advantage of someone and not actually get into a serious relationship that we see.

I stand corrected :)

Issue 51 is on my hunting list over Hellblazer single issues that I need in order to have a complete collection. seeing as it isn't reprinted in any of the Hellblazer trades I got.
I'll absolutely agree with you that Constantine is bisexual, mainly preferring women over men, but nonetheless bi.
It's something that IMO fits Constantine nicely, because it doesn't come off "forced" and yet works as the most casually raised middle finger to the biblethumbing fearmongers; i.e. Constantine has been to Hell more times than I have been to the local McDonalds, seen what goes on down there, and he'd still enjoy the company of a man if he so choose.
(Am I making sense?)
That said, I still think there was little to no doubt that John was playing a con/getting back at S.W. Manor.
Manor was essentially Azarellos take on a psychotic Bruce Wayne without the Batman bits, and hardly healthy boyfriend material for anyone...

Oh yeah, I'm aware that he essentially hated Manor and wanted to bring him down :) He might have also felt sorry for the guy, but mostly I wouldn't blame him for hating SW.

Which is why I'd like for him to get together with a guy at some point, even if temporarily. His track record with gay men is great (his many gay friends and tender acquaintances, like when he and that rent boy took care of each other when he was homeless) and call me anything you like but I'd really like to see at least one real romance there, even if a memory or something.

True about the track record. I think I'll always remember this positive "Peter O'Toole vibe" I got of of Ray in start of the Delano run, and yes, when Ennis don't go for the cheap male rape joke, he can write gay people surprisingly well.

I wouldnt mind seeing John in a steady male relationship or even a one-nighter if it was handled right. He has had his share of those with women, can't see why he shouldn't have one with a guy.

Gear has never appeared in the Static comic though has he? I thought he was cartoon only (I recall cartoon Richie being, effectively, a couple of the comics characters combined into one)

Plus he wasn't confirmed as gay until after the show was finished, which, whilst well meaning I'm sure and does add a bit of an altered view on rewatching, always seemed a bit of a cop out, since there was no chance of us ever seeing anything actually COME of him being gay.

Not quite a combination. He's pretty much Rick Stone, only he also gets Frieda's "has hero's identity confided in him" role and has his part generally expanded.

It would be nice if someone would post the scans from when Rick came out and then the city's pride parade was attacked by bigots lead by a metahuman.

The whole storyline ran through five issues, from #16-20, collectively called "What Are Little Boys Made Of?"

I remember reading the scans elsewhere online, possibly a Livejournal community of some sort that wasn't scans-daily. However, I can't seem to find it: I thought it was The Gas Station Of Solitude (a good source for Static fic and fanart), but I can't seem to find the post. It might just be buried somewhere.

One of those characters (Rick) was definitely gay in the Static story in Milestone Forever (the two-issue wrapup for the Milestone universe that came out around when it was getting folded into the main DCU).

It's not much, but it's now officially published canon (albeit for a now-defunct universe - we'll see what happens when/if he appears in future).

Every time I heard anybody talk about queer characters in BoP I had to consciously stop and remind myself "self, canon still pretends Babs is straight" before I can enter the discussion.

Unsurprisingly, I'm now having the same problem with Batgirl.

Enjoyed the blog post especially due to Gail's response in the end. That is why i've been such a loyal follower of her's, she never forgets the LGBT crowd.

Also Swift from the Authority is bisexual. I don't think I saw her in the list.
