So this is it. The start of the big conclusion to the long-running Venom/Carnage storyline. For now.
I'll preface this by saying that, as some of you may already know, the storyline first appeared in the Ultimate Spider-Man videogame. Bendis told everyone that the game would be considered 'canon' with the comics. He later changed his mind and instead 'adapted' it for the comics. Which in the end, I think makes the most sense. Those without the luxury of whatever gaming system that's hot nowadays or those rereading the series in trades years from now will be left out and confused.
Still, the game is pretty fun and it's well-designed.You get to play as Spider-Man and as Venom...with the latter, you spend most of the time throwing cars around and killing people. You get to eat them, throw them off of buildings, break their backs. It's fun. Bendis wrote it himself and Bagley's art was used for the character models so it does feel like a USM comic. The cut scenes are available on YouTube; I put the first one below and you can browse the account for the rest.
FWIW, Bendis didn't copy the game storyline exactly. They start off similar enough but it diverges significantly by the second half and the ending is completely different.
So basically Eddie Brock is on a bench, telling people his story. Of course, after he's done, he morphs into Venom and eats them.
He recaps the events of his first storyline, but after he died, he doesn't remember what happened.

Anyways, Brock is trying to find a way to solve his problem when he's attacked by the Silver Sable and her Wildpack. Venom manages to shake them off.
A week later, Brock is getting that feeling again and senses that Peter is in close proximity. Meanwhile, Peter gets a huge headache from Venom's presence although he doesn't know what it is.

Anyways, the next issue begins the same way this ends, so here's the beginning of #124:

Now then we flash back to a time when Spider-Man first encountered the Beetle. It takes up the bulk of the issue but I'm not going to post it as it has little bearing on Venom's storyline. All you need to know is that the Beetle here works for Latveria and he too wants possession of the Suit.
Here's how he looks, though:

Then we flash back to where we last left off...

In #125, Eddie wakes up...

Of course, the barriers hold, and Eddie has no choice but comply with Trask.
Later, Peter is doing some experiments with his blood to figure out why he was getting the headaches from being near Venom. He figures it has to do with his father's DNA being used to create the Suit. Peter discovers little black blobs floating around his bloodstream.
Venom is now floating in stasis while Trask's scientists prepare the extraction process. That's when the Beetle arrives and gasses everyone.

Venom decides to pursue the Beetle.

Of course, Spidey arrives.

Next: The Ultimates arrive, Eddie tries to get his suit back and Carnage returns...but not how you might think.

Date: 2011-05-21 10:11 am (UTC)In fact why does Trask even need Brock? Given Conners had copies and Brock didn't clear up his lab very well surly the notes are floating around? I seem to remember Peter only needed a small sample for his 'suit' so I doube Brock used all of his thus their should even be biosamples knocking about... still comics heh?
