I came across a comment that described Kid Miracleman as "an evil Peter Pan", and that might be the best and most accurate description of Bates I have ever seen.
This issue lived up to my expectations. I was a bit worried that Dick would go directly from "Miracleman did that horrible thing, I can never trust him again" to "What if he was LYING about Johnny, what if that slaughter in London was HIS doing?" and then "I bet if I resurrected Johnny the way he resurrected me, we could overthrow this whole pervert society and get things back to the way they're SUPPOSED to be!" There's still a chance it could go that way, but Gaiman is moving forward with a lot more nuance.
I'm still not gonna say Johnny's gone for good until the series wraps, though. I've fallen for THAT one before.
