"Of course you're allowed to romanticize the JOKER. We SHOULDN'T, because he's evil, yet many of us still do. Why? Same reason we love horror movies and Halloween--many of us like the idea of flirting with the devil. I think that's why I think Jack Napier works in White Knight. You're allowed to like the Joker (or even think he's sorta sexy) without people judging you. Because it gives you hope that maybe Joker ain't all bad." -- Sean Murphy

Date: 2020-01-10 08:11 pm (UTC)I do rather like that Az-Bats design. Weird though that Murphy's seemingly killing off most of Batman's rogues though in that splash page. I mean, Murphy's been pretty laser focused on Joker and Harley, but seems weird to just wipe them out since in the past he's at least used the other villains as glorified, but visually interesting, cannon fodder.
I'm still intensely leery of the fate of Batgirl here, but interested to see if Murphy introduces her as Oracle by the end of this.

I'd wonder if it was a last minute change by Murphy, but I think his Poison Ivy has always had straight hair. Have we seen any interaction between her and Harley? I'd be interested to see Murphy's take on the dynamic given his treatment of Harley.

Date: 2020-01-11 12:47 am (UTC)The whole "oh you mean my ancestors who were well known for being stubborn difficult etc. did a bad? I can't cope." Is silly- especially if its long past. Family history doesn't usually bury the bad deeds as well as fiction seems to think. I mean it's often not something you are proud of - but I doubt its completely a soul shattering out of hte blue thing.
My fam has stories of ancestors who had to keep moving cause they had violent tempers and fights "went bad". We are also 'pretty sure' there's an unmarked grave of a claim jumper on our family land. I mean we had an awkward "WELP" when we heard that particular tale but generally we managed to live a normal life. We ain't even rich or old money.
