Two things: 1. Is Invisible Woman's back broken or something in that cover? It looks weird. 2. Isn't this the series that said the X-Men were just science experiments and didn't get their powers from evolution or something?
That retcon of the X-Men did have the amusing point from Ultimate Johnny Storm that mutant racism is even more illogical in the Ultimate Universe since they're all the same.
The Ultimate Universe was a long list of "good idea, bad execution" or "bad idea, worse execution" moments.
Mahr Vell meanwhile falls into the rarely used category of "criminally underutilised". A science nerd alien who falls in love with our terrible TV (Lost, Mahr? Really?) and our junk food, who is also smart and, in an utter rarity for the Ultimate Universe, not an arsehole of any stripe. ... what a waste. What a senseless waste.
And it's almost weird to see Ultimate Carol not be responsible for / involved with some massive flamingo-up of epic proportions. Oh, the advantages of being written by Warren Ellis.

2) Nope, that was "Ultimate Origin", which was...odd.
