I like how the Joker, in his thoughts, mentions that his gag boutonnière is made of acid-proof plastic. It's as though he were aware of readers out there wondering why the acid doesn't dissolve it. Given that in some (later) stories, he's explicitly shown to be aware of the fourth wall, I can buy that.

In vaguely-related news, I believe this is the first time Joker's used his boutonnière to spray acid.

On a related note, it was also very nice of Harvey to clarify that the sub-basement he was holding the Joker in can also be called a 'second basement', just to reassure any hypothetical readers that he hasn't forgotten his theme or anything.

This series was fun. At least it avoided the trap of say like, having Joker be the "hero" by squaring him off against worse villains. It's just Joker. Doing what he does.

Apparently they had a hard time making it work since Joker was getting back into his kill happy days. But it was early days. To think there was a time Joker wasn't defined by killing Jason Todd and putting Barbara in a wheelchair...

I cracked up the instant I saw Harvey eating pears -- well before the explanation. Looking for this stuff is always fun. I kind of wish they hadn't spelled it out.
