The two head towards a temple, being chased by Urrzkarrrtaga's followers. When nightfalls, the two are ambushed from both sides and Cheetah is stabbed by a spear...
What i find most amusing is that, if that story about Ann meeting Clark that one time they confused him with bruce (and had they had a one-night) well...
I find the relationship between Barbara Ann and Diana really interesting too. Particularly Diana comforting her and saying that it's not her fault for not being a Virgin for Urzkartaga, that he is just plain abusive and would have found an excuse anyway
Diana and Barbara being friends before Barbara gets Cheetah-ish is an interesting take. Like all the "Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent were friends" stories.
Interesting, yes, but not the Cheetah. Cheetah should be a sort of anti-Wonder Woman - nominally the champion of another god, every bit as adventurous, determined and resourceful as Diana, but ultimately only out for herself. Someone who respects Wonder Woman but would never consider her a friend.
I like the Perez version where Uzkartaga's curse only affects her when she's in human form - so she stays in Cheetah form at all times, but still says "fuck you" to Uzkartaga and uses his powers for her own ends. I also like the "evil Lara Croft" characterization of Barbara Ann there, who comes into contact with Wonder Woman because she wants to steal her lasso -a priceless artifact of the Greek gods.
The "villain used to be hero's civilian friend" card is severely overplayed in my opinion. Usually the dynamic it creates is boring and melodramatic. And if the writers want the villain to appear sympathetic and the hero to try to help them, it's both lazy and unnecessary - these are super-heroes after all, they should be more than willing to help someone who needs it even if she's a stranger.
It was one of the changes made back when Nu52 happened... you know, when the heroes seemed to be more interested on their personal drama than in being superheroes (did azzarello's diana do any actual superheroics outside of the Throne drama?)
YES! THIS is Diana! I never had a problem with godhood, or any of the other superficial stuff, even the "birth" but THIS her behavior, her willingness to fight, and even kill, but never as a first recourse.
