They were blind fools for not giving Adam Strange to Paul Pope and letting him do whatever he wanted with it, and that's my final word.

...BLIND FOOLS, I SAY!

This was published in 2004, seven years before the reboot.

Planet Heist! This was a pretty enjoyable story, really had Adam be badass.

I loved this story back when it first came out. Up until where they tripped at the finish line by having it tie in with Infinite Crisis. It could've been a great standalone story up until that.

Looks good, but...

ALPHA CENTAURI WENT SUPERNOVA???

...and four years later, the night sky in the Southern Hemisphere becomes brighter than the full moon.

And an EMP pulse larger than our worst nightmare arrives FRYING practically every electronic device we have, and we are basically reduced to 19th century technology...and a 21st century population.

Auroras will cascade the bright night sky...and civilization will collapse.

Alpha Centauri turning supernova (which is extremely unlikely, it's not the sort of star that would) would destroy our civilization--even from a distance of 25 trillion miles.

Or...was this post Final Crisis, when Rann got teleported all the way to Polaris' star-system?

I know, I know, it's just a comic book. I think too much.

I would be interested in reading a series that starts with the situation you describe.

Oooh, it's a Studio XEBEC work. I liked Nadesico, I'll have to give this a look.

There was a Poul Anderson sf story called "Day of Burning" where three of his heroes (David Falkyn, Chee Lan, and Adzel) helped the Mersians (who would later be enermies/rivals of Earth---sort of like Klingons) survive a similar fate when a nearby star to theirs went supernova.

Wouldn't we have noticed if Alpha Centauri went supernova? I mean, it'd take a few years, but then we'd be...well, dead, I guess.
