One for Nightwing, or rather some vague misfortune that they apparently have something unpleasant planned for Dick Grayson. I say that it's the crispy remains of Tarantula coming back for revenge or something.

And the Green Lantern one, which is apparently meant to possibly be Jessica Cruz, a Green Lantern who gets her ring in a contraversial way.

Date: 2013-07-16 08:19 pm (UTC)Kyle Higgins has mentioned he's still writing Nightwing after the "Forever Evil" thing so Dick should be safe (and given how good his title has been lately, it would be a complete and total pain in the ass if they killed him off for the sake of an event) though he might A) be lying or B) have someone else in the Nightwing suit... Hmm... Babs isn't Batgirl at the moment, is she?

Date: 2013-07-17 10:04 am (UTC)Jason, eh, kind of responsible, though the kid did wander off on his own to get into the position he ended up in.
Damian, meanwhile, Bruce left in the care of Alfred with the intention that he stick it out while Brucee dealt with the problem. Only for Damian's new sense of heroism to lead him to evade Alfred and get killed while undertaking actions he knew might be deadly (fighting a much larger, stronger and better trained opponent long enough for a civilian to escape).
Even with Steph, her temporary death was a result of her going off on her own to try and do the right thing, only to be killed off (after fighting tooth and nail against Black Mask) by a trusted medical friend of Steph and Bruce's out of SPITE.
TLDR, Bruce getting Dick, Jason and Damian involved with superheroism in the first place (Steph got involved independantly) could be argued to be what resulted in them dying, but that ignores the agency that they exhibited in starting the chain of events that lead to their deaths.
Calling Bruce incompentant because he's busy saving lives elsewhere while his proteges (at least two of whom were told to stay out of it with people there supervising them, in Damian's case Alfred and in Steph's Holly Robinson and her gf, I believe) attempt to do the same thing is kind of harsh.
Even though Jason's is arguably more a result of the kid's own inability to follow simple instructions that lead to his death, rather than a conscious attempt to save lives like Damian or Steph.

Date: 2013-07-17 10:44 am (UTC)And Bruce would absolutely blame himself for anything happening to Dick EVER, regardless of his age, since Dick is his son in all but biology, and since he would be the one who had started him on his life of heroing.

Date: 2013-07-16 10:07 pm (UTC)EDIT: Wait a tic, I think I just came up with a theory.
Since his introduction, Baz has been characterized as the Lantern who could do things with the ring and the power of will that people previously thought impossible--and this was a little after we found out that Sinestro was able to create a copy of his ring that he gave to Hal.
What if at some point, Simon does something similar...but instead of giving her a ring, he bathes her in green energy to the point where she can create constructs and pilot will without a ring? Notice that on the teaser for her, we don't see a ring at all.
The more I think about it, I think this girl is going to be a drastic reworking of Jade.

Dick: "It was an accident! We were fighting, and I punched him, and he fell and hit his head on a giant rock. Then he fell forward and my escrima stick went right through his eye." (It is nu52. We must be competing with Ultimates for Gore you know.)
Bruce: "I see. Well. Don't do it again."
Jason: "What the f----"
Bruce: *Slams Jason's head into a window* "SHUT UP WILL! ... I mean Jason. YOU'LL GET NOTHING AND LIKE IT!"

Although, given what I’m told does happen, at the hands of the Crime Syndicate of America, death may be a small mercy…
Sigh.....

Ooh, unless they're tapping Harper Row to wear the blue bird-head version Nightwing outfit?

Date: 2013-07-17 10:34 pm (UTC)It'd feel unearned and annoying to me if this character who I barely know and don't really care about suddenly became the new Nightwing. Especially because the Nightwing identity was originally the result of a lot of character growth and development.
