Not a hoax, not a dream, the (alleged) return of a fan favorite X-man!

Looks like the elf is back, along with an Amazing era Spiderman!  Despite being another event, the new costumes and character returns are welcome. I imagine Kurt returns in the next X-men crossover.

I think he's going to return in WatXM. When Quentin read the Bamfs' minds, he saw Azazael and a figure in a white cloak that looked like the one Kurt's in there.

[personal profile] darkknightjrk 2013-07-12 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Plus during the flash-forward issue Azazel was mentioned as an event that happens after the Hellfire Saga.

[personal profile] xakko 2013-07-13 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Azazel is still in continuity?

oh well, if it gets Kurt back...

Hey, in terms of events, a story with an elevator pitch that crazy and centered around a new Inhumans series by Fraction ain't a bad way to start at all.

Funny you should mention Nightcrawler, because I saw this from another thread mentioning it as "the return of a fan-favorite character" and my first thought was, "Oh shit, Silver Surfer, good to see him back."

[personal profile] captainbellman 2013-07-12 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
I imagine Silver Surfer just returning to 616-Earth every couple of years, appalled at everything that's happened.

"People of Earth! Behold at the mighty wonders I have witness - oh, WTF?! The Avengers are destroying Earths? Cyclops killed my baldy-buddy? Spider-Man is all keraaaaazy now? Ugh, screw this noise."

"Norrin, I understand things are bad but..."

"Put your cloak back on and beat up Shuma Gorath and we'll talk. I'm going to get yard-margharitas with the Beyonder until all of...*this* [waving gesture at Earth] blows over."

Aw, Yondu's gonna be jealous :P Seriously, though, Nightcrawler and Silver Surfer are two of my all-time favs, so I'm super-excited to see both of them here!

Did Wolverine roll Constrictor for his threads?

Now I'm wondering what the reverse of this would look like.

Given that Logan has notoriously bad fashion sense, and a history of taking other people's outfits, I don't see why not. Considering how much punishment he usually takes, it's amazing he doesn't go through more spandex.

Pleased to see Spider-Man back in his old threads and all that implies. Hopefully it's not a fakeout.

Weird that Marvel seems to be planning on pushing the Inhumans as their new go to hated/feared minority metaphor. I mean, given that Uncanny Avengers seems dedicated to being as tonedeaf as possible about that kind of thing it could be nice to see a book that actually embraces the metaphor. Plus, this is being written by Matt Fraction, and he seems like a cool guy who should be able to tackle such issues well.

Oh, and Angela's there! Because Marvel decided that she was relevant. I'm still waiting for them to issue a press release to the effect of "Had you going, didn't we?"

Matt Fraction was responsible for the Proposition X storyline. My hopes are low.

I'm still waiting to see what Bendis and Gaiman do with Angela to properly pass judgement. I think she's already in better hands than she was during the last.. What, ten years, since I can remember one appearance around about the sixties of Spawn where she made a cover appearance and then had about three pages where it was obvious McFarlane had her written in as if to say 'YES, I STILL HAVE COPYRIGHT' and then she left the story entirely.

If it suddenly turns out that Gaiman's writing another mini with her, for instance... I'm all over it.

That'd be cool, but apparently Gaiman isn't even c-writing GOTG anymore. He's being credited as a "consultant" for Angela, with Bendis being the sole writer.

[personal profile] mrstatham 2013-07-12 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, we'll see. They've at least got him on board to okay things, presumably, and their treatment of Gaiman in the past certainly suggests they know better than to do something he wouldn't like, since he is one of those few writers who has a far broader appeal than just comics.

The Inhumans, the group that mostly focuses on the royal family of an isolationist society with a caste system is suppose to represent every minority ever

But according to Remender the mutant minority metaphor falls flat

I just can't

[personal profile] mrstatham 2013-07-12 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
To me, Remender's kind-of the odd man out, since pretty much everyone else - even Bendis, whose characterisation is obviously sketchy when it comes to some characters, is blatantly aware that the mutants represent a minority.

Unfortunately Remender happens to be the guy on the 'headlining' book on the 616 universe, at the moment.

I admit, I like Logan's new duds. I'd prefer shorter/no sleeves, but its a nice look.

True, though he's been sticking to his Astonishing costume so much, a new costume almost surprised me.

It's because Cyclops optic blasted the crotch out on all of his others during Schism.

For some reason, that just makes me imagine Scott waiting outside a changing room for Logan to come back out so he can blast him again.

Whilst we all knew that Peter was going to be back in his body sooner rather than after ASM2 comes out next summer, it's good to see the real Spider-Man back.

It's bascially the post-Infinity status quo, like that Marvel NOW teaser Quesada did last year.
