That's a fun twist, and one I could see the TV series would have run with for a while too.

"Pound coins, actually"
Oh Giles

That's it, I'll have to catch up on this now.

If only to see the inevitable ongoing adventures of teenage Giles on dates with small friends and familiars of the rest of the crew.

Getting Xander to babysit could be fun.

Also Spike's reaction is going to be a "must see"

I suspect they'll be flying think and fast, if they haven't already (and again, could Spike possibly resist, with Giles perhaps coming back with a "Draco Malfoy cosplayer" accusation)

oh god, can you imagine giles READING the Harry Potter series? and actually LOVING it?

Giles: Hmmm JK must have been an actual witch, because while these spells are rudimentary and a bit muddled they are usabl- Dammit Harry! Can't you see that Ginny is the one you are meant to be with?!?!?!

Angel: Has he gotten to book 5 yet?

Faith: do you see lying in a puddle of his own tears yet?

Giles: Oh Look! the Order has arrived, certainly Sirius will show that horrendous cousin of his a lesson in manners!

Angel: Crap. He's all your- *looks around, Faith is gone* damnit....

this has been a continuously fun book.

and this just has so many story possibilities.

His relationship to Faith, i mean think about it, he spent his time as a father figure to her, but now Faith has the chance to be there for him.

His relationship with his aunts. Despite what they said i think they brought him back like that because they felt bad for the way they neglected him as a child.

also adult man in a teenage body! how can that NOT be hilarious. and at the same time, he has regrets about his youth. this is a great time for him to not forget what he did, but maybe get a chance to not make the same mistakes again, as well as remember what it was like to BE a hormonal teenager (he'd have a new respect for all the scoobies.)

quick question.

Didn't willow bring back magic already? or has that wave not hit yet?
majingojira: (Dresden Rides Sue)

[personal profile] majingojira 2013-06-28 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
No, they're using what residual magic remains in artifacts and other things to pull off a really complex magical resurrection.

no that much i know. What i meant was, didn't Willow bring back magic over in the Buffy comic?

She is, little by little.

[personal profile] long_silence 2013-06-28 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Well his reunion with Buffy and the rest of the Scoobies should be interesting.

Kinda wish he knew what was going on with Dawn so that he could head over there like Spike did.

My love for this book is never ceasing. Kid!Giles, fun characters, DAT ART, the Buffy feel? My heart aches. (I stopped reading the Buffy books a while back because they just didn't feel like the show.)

Also, briefly misread Giles' line as "It's a tremendous ass."

Don't worry too much Giles, I understand being a kid is a temporary condition!
crinos: (Default)

[personal profile] crinos 2013-06-28 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, considering all the potential ways a resurrection spell could go wrong (And it was established back in the television show how these things could go wrong) I think Giles and company got off pretty easy with Giles just being a kid again. I mean the worst thing here is he has to go through puberty again.

[personal profile] long_silence 2013-06-28 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Though to be fair Ripper did cause a lot trouble during his adolescence the first time around

Yeah, but Giles still has memories of his past life, so hopefully this time around he'll know better.

Plus he'll have Angel and Faith to help keep him in line.

... What the FUCK.

So not only is he back as a kid, but these people use that as an excuse to talk down to him, dress him up, not take him seriously and take 'adult' things away from him like he doesn't know better ... but they actually brought him back as a child ON PURPOSE because he'd be cuter that way?

And this is treated like a comedy?

Giles is 100% right; they've MAIMED him, ruined his entire life on a fundamental level, and they all think it's funny. Quite frankly I'd say he has grounds for justifiable homicide because that's what I'D be considering.

Just ... UGH, this is just horrifying.

It's a little more complicated I think, the two women who created the physical template for him to be reborn in were the aunts who raised him and they seem to be fairly... flighty to start with, as well as being absolutely self-absorbed. The fact they screwed up the body template is no real surprise, nor that they view him as A) adorable and B) a dress up doll.

The others are mixing their relief that the spell worked so that Giles is alive again (and that it didn't unleash some creature of anti-life the way Buffy's ressurection did) with the absurdity that oh-so-proper Giles is now a spotty kid, with the brains of a man but the hormones of a horny teenager. That will require a bit of adapting to, and in the meantime they're having a little strss-relieving fun.
