DC has announced, over on CBR, that Keith Giffen, JM DeMatteis and Kevin Maguire are re-uniting for an ongoing series....

But it's set a thousand years in the future

Meet the line up of Justice League 3000

Apparently this is "a more militaristic Superman"

I like that she's a bit more solidly built

What is it with DC and black and red these days? Did they over-order stocks of it or something? Is the real reason for the launch of the DCnU that they wanted to reduce their stockpile?

I quite like this design. A lot of fans are hoping this is the DCnU Wally West.... not sure about that myself.

So Cloak became a Green Lantern did he?

I'm a little disappointed that we only have ONE female member (so far) a Superwoman instead of a Superman might have been nice, or a female Flash or Green Lantern... This just seems... too similar in line up to the current JL.

You thoughts?

Salinea answered for me, but I'm curious how you define ethnicity where Italians and Irish aren't ethnic groups (which happen to have their own nation-states, but that's neither here nor there).

but that classification is placed there by White people isn't it? i mean when filling out census information it has a special section for "Hispanic" and then the only option valid in the ethnicity section that would apply to me is "white" and i AINT white....

no but it's the closest option for me. I have no african ancestry, no asian, native american, somoan, pacific islander....

it just... it's always bothered me... the census stuff changes constantly, but it's annoying (its the same on some college applications)

Well, not necessarily mixed up, it's just that race also works differently over there than here in the colonies. Race is a political definition, not a scientific one, so it will change according to politics.

Well, ethnicity is one of those amorphous things that change according to politics. For instance, on your side of the pond "Asian" refers to people from India and the area. However, if you picked a random person on this side of the Atlantic and pressed them on the issue they would eventually agree that Pakistanis are technically Asians but that the word refers usually to Chinese and such (i.e., East Asians).

And historically speaking, Italians and Irish weren't seen as completely white in North America; many people still alive will remember those times. There's even a book titled "How the Irish Became White" about race relations in the US.
