Finale of Avengers Academy
X23 and Finesse have a confrontation at the start of the issue, talking about what really happened in full. Finesse fully expects Laura to kill her and waits for the killing blow, Laura just hits the wall behind her. It ends like this:

Hazmat and Mettle talk with Hank and Tigra about what happened with Jeremy's formula. Short version: the cure they took would attack and neutralize any power remover similar to Jeremy's that they used to remove their powers, as it became a part of them. Sadly, there's more to the cure that they're told the next day, but that we don't see. But Hazmat and Mettle resolve other issues instead, because now they aren't alone. And Ken CAN feel things, but it's not quite the same as having skin. It just took him a while to figure out how.
Then this happens!
To complete the crappy day Finesse has had, she then finds out that Reptil has stopped waiting for her as she's been standoffish for a good while in their relationship. He's moved on. With White Tiger.
She finds out she does have emotions, by having her heart broken.
It ends with the entire crew being made 3rd Grade Avengers, higher security clearness (that Jeanne takes to quickly) and employing Jeremy's targeted helping algorithms to guide young heroes for the best situations they could encounter. Building a network of aid for teen heroes.
And the last page before the issue's close on the other side of the goodbye letter Gage wrote, thanking everyone, is an add for Avengers Arena.
Gage actually goes out of his to say "Give it a Chance" in the goodbye letter. Twice.
Still, for this series, it's a good end, if bittersweet. The last part bookends the entire series with Veil now just a normal girl going back to a hellish high school, but now she has confidence to stand up for herself. And Black Ops training that normal high school kids just can't stand up to.
I'm going to miss this book, but I'm glad it lasted as long as it did.

Even if we didn't have reason to worry about them surviving, if they just faded off to obscurity after this, it'd feel weird because you know that isn't what we're going to see.

You just let your hear decide?
Appropriate, seeing that Karolina's technically a princess of the Majesdanian and Skrull empires.

Also, X-23 was not written well. Yes, she doesn't want to be a killer anymore but she's always been willing to do whatever it takes to protect people. When her desire not to kill comes into conflict with her desire to protect her friends at all costs, guess which one wins? Heck, she has no problem manipulating and lying to people when it needs to be done. She kept Cyclops's orders secret from Wolverine when she was in X-Force. She manipulated Elixir into helping X-Force and surreptitiously suggested that he have his memories wiped by the Cuckoos. She had no problem torturing Vanisher to keep him in line.

Karolina/Julie just doesn't sit right with me, because it basically requires Karolina and the readers to accept Xavin's gone forever, which I hope isn't the case.

Hazmat/Mettle
As for Finesse, kinda glad this happened. She needed this to finally learn what it is like to feel and that it is not ok to just treat anyone anyway you see fit. Gotta be considerate of others. This will be good for her growth.
P.S. - REAAAALLY hope they don't kill any of the Academy cast and Power Man.

I hope Avengers Arena doesn't end with them killing Laura. She's really started to become interesting in the past few years.

Karolina is fromthe series Runaways and you should totally start reading it. It's core premise is this:
"Every teenager thinks that their parents are evil on some level. What if they actually were?"
A group of teens find out that their parents are supervillains. It's fun. Vol. 1 is 18 issues, Vol. 2 is 30 and that's all you need. Written byBrian K. Vaughn for the most part, and Joss Whedon for the last 6 issues.
Julie Power starts her trip to homosexeuality there, continues it in the spin off "The Loners" and completes her 'coming out' as bisexual in Avengers Academy. That series isn't as good as early Runaways, but still entertaining and wroth reading IMO.
