Boom!'s The Traveler's currently pitting our titular hero against the Split-Second Men, three in red whose control over time is supplemented by powers unique to that person.

(And, if a passing mention in Soldier Zero #2's any indication, they might be foes in the scope of Just Imagine's Darrk, whose name you cannot say without sounding like something's in your throat. It's up in the air how Starborn'll go with that; certainly wouldn't be too hard to tie him in with Soldier Zero.)

Last issue introduced two of them, tying both their and our hero's powers to a kind of unified field theory (just guess what the electromagnetic guy does.)

(Oh, Traveler #2 undercut, btw.)



I'd thought he was gravitation, because a Waid interview suggested his code name made it obvious, and what could be more obvious than a gravity-themed codename?

Nope, turns out that's our hero's purview:



Obvious in retrospect, when you consider some of the stuff he did in Traveler #1.. I suppose I'd just tied them to judicious use of time.

Now since Splinter there in the background is weak force, that leaves strong force for the "most powerful" of the Men.

But what kind of name could a man like that have, that it "gives away too much"?

Well, we find out when our hero has to save another seemingly random innocent from him:

Ha. Not so obvious, but obvious enough.

So how dangerous can he be; he doesn't seem especially smart, right?

But he's as implacable as any hulking, silent foe:



Oh, and he's got a little bit of cunning, too:



Combined with his visually fun usage of powers, he should prove an interesting foe.
