This is a bit too late, but school keep me busy. Anyway, here it is.

I've been a great fan of Saint Seiya since I was a little child. I'd say my brother is half responsible for that, since he borrowed me some videos of the old series. However, when they broadcasted it in Mexico again, I was hooked. After that, I've been following everything related to the manga. I've loved almost all the characters. Even if some of them had bothered me (Athena, for instance. I can't believe the modern reincarnation of one of the most recognized goddess is that weak and should always be rescued). Recently, a new manga related to Saint Seiya has been published: Saint Seiya The Lost Canvas. It's been an awesome story. Great characters and storylines. The Pegasus Saint, Tenma is really cool and powerful, but he isn't shown off as much as his succesor, Seiya. And his relationship with Athena and Hades is really interesting.

However, as much as I love this manga, it showed me one of my least favorite characters and storylines (even if another character I liked was involved). So here it is, the story of the Gemini Twins of the Lost Canvas.

Here he is.



Hades, reincarnated in Tenma's best friend and Sasha's (Athena's reincarnation)brother, Alone, the main enemy of the story, has discovered about Athena's Cloth, thanks to Athena's Sanctuary Traitor, Aspros, who had been killed 2 years ago. Since Hades is the king of the Underworld, well, they made a deal. Aspros would be brought back and would fight for Hades. In exchange, he would take control of the Sanctuary. Hades agreed.


Here he is, showing dickery at his finest, dressed as his succesor in the 20th century would look after taking the Sanctuary's control, pretending to be Pope Shion. At least that future guy was cool. This wasn't.

He is dressed like that because, he wanted to take control of the Sanctuary as Pope Sage's succesor, but the old man had chosen Saggitarius, and that's how the shit started to happen.

Meanwhile, his twin brother, Defteros, who replaced him as the Gemini Saint, and who killed him, had just rescued Libra Dohko, and sent him flying through his Another Dimension, knowing he would eventually find the way out. And he goes where a powerful cosmos calls him. That's, of course, his brother, who breaks in.




He killed you anyway, so shut up asshole.

They land in Mars Temple, and we have some flashbacks of the Twin's childhood:


Yeah, that's the perfect way to make sure someone born under "The Chaos Star" doesn't go mad.





Def didn't like being the second nor anything of that crap. But he admired his brother, and he thought "My brother is really a cool guy". So he decided to let things the way they were. He would be Aspros shadow, and Aspros would be one of the most powerful Saints. He was okay with that. Because his brother was a good guy. So, Aspros ended up as the Gemini Saint.

That's what the poor guy thought. Aspros real colors would be revealed when it was discovered Sage hadn't chosen him as his succesor. Defteros manage to find that out, and went to search his brother. That was his dream, and Def supported him. He eventually goes to Starhill, a place reserved for Sanctuary's Popes. There was his brother, acting like if he were drunk or something.













So, Aspros uses his mind-control technique, the Genromaoken, AKA Demon Emperor Fist, to make his brother go where the Pope is. Defteros is forced to attack Sage, but the old man manage to stop him. Asspros arrives, and apologize for his brother behavior, and tells him that he will punish his brother. Sage turns around, then, since he does not like the idea of someone killing his own brother, because Sage also has a twin. Aspros then tries to attack him from behind, but...





So, Sage knew about Aspros and his desires, so he had already been prepared calling Virgo. But what he did not expect was the fact that he'd brainwash his own brother. What does he have to say?



Then they start a small fight. Asmita uses his mind-Buda powers or whatever to enter Defteros mind and gives him a speech about his failure, making him realize that he decided to become the shadow of his brother's light, but it was never supposed to be like that. That's why Defteros is also responsible of Aspros sin. It also weakens the Demon Emperor Fist, allowing Defteros to kill Aspros when he least expected, and therefore, breaking the spell (In the original series, once the affected by that technique kills someone, is released from the curse)


You just were. Douche.

So, we find out that Sagittarius Sisyphus had rejected the Pope position. That means Aspros would have to become the next Pope. Sage hadn't said anything since he wanted to be sure about Aspros. That his heart were free of malice. But of course, we already know how that ended. What an idiot.

But he hasn't ended with his bullshit. Of course he hasn't


The guy used his brainwashing techinique in himself. So he would never forget his ambition. Some have speculated that this is the reason why Gemini Saga of the original series had a double personality. And why he also had that desire of becoming Pope (but, of course, Saga was cool)

Anyway, we return to the present. Aspros had managed to give Defteros his Demon Emperor Fist again. But Defteros has taken some levels on badass and breaks the mind control easily. Then, he uses his own technique.



It was a cool move, but not enough. And Aspros starts overpowering his brother. He asks why he didn't use the Galaxian Explosion, Gemini's Ultimate attack. Defteros refuses to use that attack since he doesn't want to do the same thing as him. Aspros just laughs at him, understanding that, if he were "the same as before", Defteros would use that attack. Then, he says this:







Then, Defteros decides to attack Aspros with the Galaxian Explosion, and so does him. Both of them attack each other at the same time. Because of that, we get another flashback. Defteros wasn't allowed to train with the other kids, so he trained himself. Turns out he was becoming as good as his brother.







So yeah, even as a child he was messed up.

Unfortunately, Defteros is the one defeated. However, he says that it's not because Aspros' were stronger. His attack did hit him. Then Aspros hair and eyes start changing, returning to their original states, before he died. And Defteros body dissapears, leaving the Gemini Cloth.

He goes where Hades is, using the Evil Pope's costume. Hades notices Aspros physical changes, which are explained. The curse dyed his hair. But "that evil dissapeared along with his brother". Then he attacks Hades and this happens:











Why, why is this son of a bitch wearing the fucking gold cloth again and fully alive? No, I understand that his brother gave him his live, that's the reason he didn't go back to the Underworld when Hades ordered, but WHY?! So, after attempting to take over the Sanctuary for the status it would give him, using his own brother, who admired him more than anything, attempting to murder the Pope and Virgo, using a fucking brainwashing technique to make sure he would go berserk even after being dead... HE IS RESSURECTED JUST LIKE THAT?! What the Fuck?!

Later it's revealed that Mephistopheles Youma, one of Hades specters, put an "evil seed" inside Aspros when he was a child, telling him that Defteros wanted to defeat him, and making that evil corrupt him forever. It seems like a cheap excuse to me. Even if he had that thing, he is the one who took those actions. The one who took those decisions. To me, he is still guilty. Anyway, Youma killed him. And that totally made him awesome (among other things)


Sorry about the lenght of this post. I really dislike this character.
