"18 Days" - a heartbreaking update

A while back, I was thrilled to share the amazing artwork previews for the hardcover of "18 Days", one of the epic and significant battles of the The Mahbharata. Unfortunately Virgin Comics went the way of the do-do, and the book is now a CGI video drama, scheduled for next spring. Behind the cut are more images of what could have been, and the dreams that they inspired.

I was SO looking forward to getting this today.

Eh, if you want the story in comic form you can still pick up India's numerous comic adaptations of it, including the 'Amar Chithra Katha', which are wicked cheap and written/drawn in a silver-agey style.

The art, though. The art. I am terribly sad that it's going, because all the art for it has been absolutely phenomenal.

I thought 'Amar Chithra Katha' was an animated adaptation not a comic book.

Sad that this wonderful book won't be published. I hope the video does it justice.

Eh. I just took a look at the preview and am not terribly impressed. I'd much rather have the book.

Actually, that's a little bit of a misconception. I talked to Grant recently about this and it was never, ever going to be printed in comic book form - the intent was always to do it as a CGI movie, not least because he's still exclusively contracted to DC Comics:
