Gotham City Sirens 7 - 'absent friends'
I have a question about this image from Gotham City Sirens #7, and it's probably due to my inability to keep continuity straight in my head amongst the umpty-gazillion Batbooks going on right now. Help me out gang?
Dick and Selina are having a last holiday toast by the fire before Damian drags Dick out to hunt the "animal out there killing runaway kids" (see Batman #694, I believe):

OK, Bruce and Tim, fairly obvious - presumed dead and off in Europe refusing to presume; Holly Robinson, offscreen somewhere trying to live down the shame that was Countdown; Baby Helena, adopted out; Harley and Ivy, off holidaying outside Gotham, as detailed in the other plot threads in this issue (see here for Harley's holiday hijinx).
But why is Alfred an Absent Friend? Last time I checked in with Outsiders, he was going to be running the team from the Cave/Manor, with Halo at least living at Wayne Manor. Has that changed? Is he off on a mission I've missed?
One panel from Gotham City Sirens #7 under the cut, not my scan, we've had 3.5 pages so far which brings us to just over 4 pages don't make me add fractions!.

Still, I enjoyed this scene, and wish we were getting more of Dick interacting with the wider Bat and DC worlds now that he's the bigwig in the Batcave, so to speak.
This is one of the very few scenes I can recall that has Dick and Selina interacting cordially, without a sting in the tail. And so far, the only other I can think of with Dick as Batman talking to someone from the wider DC universe was that one with Garth in a recent Titans issue.

Previews have him as part of Robinson's new JLA lineup, though, so it'll have to start happening pretty soon, won't it?

Alfred's such a camera hog. He totally ruined my cousin's wedding pictures.

Also, shouldn't we be allowed 3 more pages of scans? The rule is only 4 scans PER POST, but we're allowed 1/3 of the issue. I'm assuming the issue was more than 12 pages.

The rest of the page was amusing, but not really germane to the question, so I cut it down to just the absent friends image.

This comment made me laugh out loud.

Anyway, I love the way Alfred is absent when he's in the kitchen. Sure he's not far, but he's Alfred so you miss him fast!

Hmmm, Selina does seem to be wearing a very peculiar out and showing some leg in that scene.
credits to sistermagpie for the scan by the way.

As besties, maybe not, there seems to be an edge of "who'd'a thunk it, but here we all are after all" to the friendships, but there is a bond there. Ivy's plotline this issue had her holidaying in South America to commune with the Green, and pondering "why don't I just stay here?" Needless to say, she ends up back at the shelter in the end.

Maybe Alfred's... uhm... being reflected in the fire or some such. :P
These are comic book fires, what makes us so sure they operate like our fires?
