Really doesn't work since they have the same face. Would be hilarious if he tried though. Peter wakes up confused to a triumphant Ben who proclaims he stole his face. Peter looks in the mirror, sees no difference.
DAMMIT. Just let it go already! Even Janine wanted him to knock this off, but Ben is STILL doing it. And Peter! For god sake, just offer to get a telepath to help Ben get his memories back!
You're right, this is a totally solvable problem. At least it's a little more believable for Peter not to offer a telepathic solution when Ben is saying "I need to move on with my own life, be my own person" instead of "I NEEEEED your MEMMMMORIIIIES, PEEEETER..!"
Why Ben isn't seeking some kind of telepathic solution instead of just...I dunno...hanging around, waiting for some solution to present itself, and hoping that a veteran superhero doesn't notice someone skulking outside his window (I get that Ben probably wouldn't trigger Peter's spider-sense, but that excuse only goes so far) is left as an exercise for the reader.
Because Marvel still has this thing where they try to pretend such fantastic solutions don't exist and that their world is still kinda like ours. Same reason why Spidey villains invent flying harnesses, vibration gauntlets and holographic projectors, and then use them to knock over banks instead of just selling the tech and making a fortune.
I can suspend my disbelief if this *was* self-contained. But then they had a crossover with the X-Men and did this very thing for Madelyne Pryor that they, for some reason, didn’t also do for Ben despite the two teaming up.
Strong issue overall. I dug most of the character work in this one, especially the interactions between Peter and May and Peter and MJ. Zeb Wells' run has been hit or miss for me (mostly miss), but I congratulate him for ending his run on what seems to be his own terms, and in a way that feels like an ending.
As for Ben Reilly, AKA the scab that the Spider-comics just can't stop picking at, I would not mind at all if Joe Kelly simply ran over him with a bus. But in the meantime, I'll enjoy him as ironically as possible. I just think it's hilarious that he wants to take over Peter's crappy life that he (Ben) doesn't even remember having at this point. It honestly makes Kraven or early Venom's motivations look calm and reasonable. If only that had been the game plan when he did take over for Peter in the Nineties and everyone feckin' hated it!
And also, Ben, I hate to break this to you, but someone ELSE has ALREADY stolen Peter's life and memories. It was called Superior Spider-Man, and it was pretty fun. Do you think you can use Doc Ock's mind-switching, memory-sharing tech with anything like the panache that Ock brought to the role? No? Well, never mind then.

Now I just want Peter to be like "You know what? You want it? Fine. Let's give this a shot, and if you like it and still want it after a week, it's yours."
And less than 24 hours later, they're back as they were and Ben happily goes on his way.
The Zeb Wells redemption arc has been nice to see after how awful the first half of the book was (even if said redemption is just moving from why to decent).
