The Porcupine wants out of the business and is trying to sell off his gear. When all of the bad guys turn him down, he resorts to asking Captain America for help. Cap uses the opportunity to lay a trap for the Serpent Society.
The previous issue was a tie-in to Gruenwald’s Squadron Supreme series, so I have skipped it for obvious reasons.

Hmm...
Which is worse for self-esteem for a new villain; being someone's starter villain, or just another random person Spider-Man beats up in-between rounds with Doc Ock?
(At least when Squirrel Girl beats people up, she tries to give them helpful suggestions on how to be a better person.)

I love how he fills the dying Porcupine's ears with validation so that maybe, just maybe, "I'm a loser" wasn't his last thought. Cap probably doesn't see that as a win...he would have preferred Porcupine to fight on and live...but dying with dignity is no small thing.

Though pretty sure Busiek's run showed it was still around then.)

Date: 2024-06-16 01:41 am (UTC)The Doctor: Well, it's not exactly a friendly thing. The Romulans have a word for it: Mentarsta.
Worf: "Respect due an honored enemy."
The Doctor: You know the word.
Worf: I am amused at the irony of any Romulan word conceptualizing "honor."
