AIM's budget must have really been hit hard when their weapon of choice is metal clubs. Though it's still better than the other side who have to arm themselves with wooden ones.
Look, either they slashed the weapons budget or canceled their annual seal-clubbing competition. At least the seal-clubbing equipment is tax deductible. They label it as part of a team-building exercise.
While it is good to see Not-Phin has apparently moved beyond trying to kill a teenager for something he had no control over, this doesn't seem like the best applications of her skills.
I don't think I've loved an issue of Amazing Spider-Man as much as I've loved this one since at least the introduction of Good Norman.
Fisk's mini-arc here showed a good grasp of every aspect of his character, and its resolution was a solid belly laugh. "Boop!" The scenes of Masque and Janice sizing each other up, and maybe bonding a bit in spite of everything, worked too. Nice moment from Tombstone as well...there's something poetic about how Janice and Whitney have ended up in the same place, even though one of their fathers was an abusive sociopath and the other's love for his daughter has never been in doubt. The story still doesn't seem to know what to do with She-Hulk, but at least she's in character and helping out.
And yes, this story has been light on Peter's own involvement, but I don't mind that once in a while, especially since what he has been doing-- acting like a hero and trying to be wherever he needs to be to end the war-- is thoroughly in character and what I want to see from him.
Where was this smart, character-driven plotting at the start of this run? I'm scared that if I make any sudden moves, it'll evaporate back into unmotivated random happenstance.
I still hate Janice's new look. It's just... ugh. Not Beetle at all. Part of me thinks she should get her own identity rather than Abe's hand-me-downs, but then again, her girrrrrl power squad (Sinister... Syndicate?) has an interesting thing going with the femme versions of Scorpion, Octopus, Scorpion, Trapster, Kraven, and Electro... heck, White Rabbit's the only original one in the bunch.
Maybe her team should expand. Pick up a female Rhino, female Mysterio, female Sandman (Quicksand?), and keep the trend going.
Yes, that "Beetle" costume is hideous. And do they REALLY want a Black Beetle? Are they trying to get sued by DC?
I would love for them to pick a female Mysterio. Maguire Beck is still around. Sure, Crime Master's Jack O Lantern said he killed all the other Jack O Lanterns, but if it ain't on panel, it ain't canon.
