NYCC 2022 - Saturday Roundup

Rather than create a lot of individual posts for announcements made at this years, New York ComicCon, let's try and keep them to one thread, where those who want spoilers can peruse at their leisure and those who don't can avoid the risk of running across them.

Because of the range of the media covered we'll give a little more leeway than just comics reveals.

Amongst others things we have:

An overhaul for Action Comics starting in January, making it more of a Superman Family title with Jon getting a new look and new powers, Kon-El being a regular, and two I don't recognise called the Twins.

Nightcrawler may be getting permanent horns... for some reason, relating to Legion of X

We have a trailer for
Dragon Prince Season 4,
Picard Season 3,
Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 and
the final Jodie Whittaker Doctor Who story The Power of the Doctor

I don't know how I feel about Kurt's new look. I am all for Kon getting more focus though. :D

And the Beeb finally announces the frikken release date for Whittaker's last episode with only three weeks to go.
They really like keeping these things close to the chest.
("I will go on about it! A lot!")

I would probably be more interested in a Superman family title if Williamson were not the one writing it.
After Final Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths: Zero Hour Armageddon, he'd have to do some serious work to earn any trust back.

And another attempt at giving Supergirl a new outfit.
Good old DC. Always convinced that the wheel could use a few more corners...

Let's no exaggerate... they announced the release date with TWO weeks to go...

I think they're from Warworld. Clark brought them to Earth when he returned.

They're Kryptonian descendants that Clark brought from Warworld.

I don't have much faith in them lasting.

I do like the swapped colors on the twins shirts and jackets.

It's nice to see Natasha do something.

But I'm not sure about those '90s flashback jackets they're all wearing.

Probably. Kurt doesn't have lot of potential archenemies. Plus it looks like another of Azrael's descendants just showed up in X-Men Red.

I second that sigh.

Oh hey, actual consequences for letting sinister on the council, finally.

While I like these costumes in general... someone might need to explain to Dan Mora that not everyone needs to have a jacket ;)

Also I think it's just the general shape and cut of the designs here, but the twins kinda look like they wandered off an Avatar the Last Airbender cartoon. It just vaguely reminds me of Aang's outfit.

Not a bad thing, just a weird connection my brain made.

If you can't make a weird connection on scans_daily, where can you?

We have reached the point of comics creators having 90s nostalgia.

My entire skeleton is creaking.

So Picard S3, is the Wrath of Khan crossed with Into Darkness. Yeah, okay, I can live with that (especially given the old characters we've got in the season). I did NOT expect to see one of 'em. And as I've almost finished my latest TNG rewatch, it'll be perfect timing.

Action Comics as an anthology series? Yes, please.

And Immortal X-Men is to be just 10 issues before becoming Immoral X-Men. Marvel put those triple-digit issue numberings on just as a joke, didn't they?

I regret watching that trailer. The final moment of it would have been so much better in the series had I not known it was coming, and I'd have liked to have been surprised by some of the other returning characters.

Still, I guess after season 2 they have to give a reason to reel people in for another go-around!
