Astro City #52 [final issue] - "And in the End..."



You’re the second person to call it an ambiguous ending, and I’ll admit, I didn’t think it was ambiguous. Underplayed, perhaps, but it’s the kind of story that wouldn’t work as well if we made a big statement about Michael’s choices. well. if we go with the interpretation that Michael is now a "Superhero" (that is, someone who after a personal tragedy decided to act as a force of good in Astro City, altough in a very non-traditional way), then I think it works.
Hanged Man is no longer this powerful, distant figure because Michael is no longer an Average Joe who lives a normal life. They are equals here.
