I'm reminded of Dirk Gently. We're told at one point that the military officer with experience of a group of psychic vampire punks would want ten highly trained operatives for each of them. For starters.

Towards the end of the first season, we see that they took his advice. And then see what they rolled out for another character, including multiple helicopters and tanks. I haven't seen the second season yet, but my guess is: they needed more men.
