"It’s one of the most challenging things about this book and one of the most satisfying things. The tone is a very specific tone and it requires a balancing act. We want it to be dark and spooky, but we don’t want it to be terrifyingly dark and too spooky. My eight year old niece needs to be able to read this book, but it also has to feel like it has some gravitas to it. The dark and spooky stuff still needs to be effective. That stuff’s tough to achieve, I don’t think we could do it without Karl’s deft hand pulling it all together in the artwork stage. He really knows how to strike that balance perfectly." - Brenden Fletcher

In our continued adventures with our young heroes, the group has decided to investigate and figure out what exactly attacked Tristan the other night...

While Pomeline lectures the group on werewolves, Olive heads back to her room (where Maps' roommate is trying to steal her poster apparently), where she receives a mysterious envelope that is slid under her door...

With this interesting news, she goes to see the school counselor... Hugo Strange.

Olive: When is it not?

Tristian mentions Langstrom was working on a cure when suddenly... WEREWOLF!!! Tristan drags the creature out in the courtyard when it tries attacking them, with the students and teachers giving chase. After the creature disappears, Maps unveils her super duper plan to capture the beast and end this madness!

But when Olive gets separated from the group...

The werewolf is bagged and the cure is given to it. But the fun isn't over yet. When they get back to the school, Pomeline confronts Olive...

More later...
