I really don't like the design of Anubis. He looks neither like typical depictions of Anubis, nor like an actual jackal (unless he's supposed to be suffering from a case of mange, which isn't really appropriate, even with his connection to death).
He honestly looks generally more like the Set Animal, aside from the lack of a fork in his tail. And Set would be a more appropriate god for his role in the story, too, frankly - he's usually a negative god, and associated with storms and destruction, where Anubis is a generally neutral psychopomp.
But Anubis is the entirety of my complaints about the book so far.
Founded by girl geeks and members of the slash fandom, scans_daily strives to provide an atmosphere which is LGBTQ-friendly, anti-racist, anti-ableist, woman-friendly and otherwise discrimination and harassment free.
Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
