This has my curiosity more than the previous stories, to be honest; Yes, it's another origin rehash, but for once, it's not based on Year One, and pretty much everything in terms of origins for Batman over the past twenty, nearly thirty years, has used Y1 as a basis. Starting fresh given the New52's timeline is smart, and it lets Snyder do things that haven't been done with the origin in years.
The involvement of the Ridder over say, Joker or rehashing Harvey's role in things is interesting, too. Given he's arguably one of the 'big four' Batman villains anyone could name (alongside Joker, Penguin, and Catwoman), he really needs some love after DC screwed up the private eye angle pre-New52.
