Chapters 5 and 6 of Age of X and some of the Aftermath

Hey sorry about the lack of posts lately. I had finals and then my internet was disconnected for a while.

So I made this massive post to try to catch everyone up on the end to Age of X.

X-Men Legacy 247
7 Pages from

When we left off Legacy/Reaper/Rogue and Gambit had snuck their way to the centre of Fortress X where they found its secret. The rest of the Universe outside of the Force Walls protecting the fortress was gone, the entire Universe was hidden inside a box right there in the Fortress.

Soon after Legacy and Gambit are confronted by X, who up until this point of the crossover had been a mysterious computer-ish voice, who seemed to know all and see all in the Fortress. X sowed seeds of descent amongst the residents, attempting to turn General Magneto against Legacy and the Moonstar Cadre against Magneto.

It's revealed that X is Moira, and she wants them to drop the box.

Moira reveals that in this world she is God and she is Omnipresent, swiftly defeating Gambit and Reaper.

Meanwhile the Force Warriors have taken over Fortress X and knocked out Magneto. Just as they are about to fight the Moonstar Cadre, Xavier awakens and stops them.

Most of the mutants in the Fortress gather and Xavier uses a lot of exposition to explain how the Age of X came to be, flashbacking to something hinted at in X-men Legacy 244 the issue before the crossover started.

Something's been eating those imprisons fragments of Legion's mind. Xavier meets it.

Using Moira's face distracts Xavier long enough for Moira to knock him into a coma. Moira/X's power seems to be similar to Proteus' reality warping, she used this opportunity to create the Age of X reality. 7 days ago.

Moira meets them all, box in hand and denies Xavier's accusations.

Moira drops the Force Walls and unleashes thousands of Human soldiers and Sentinels upon them all.

New Mutants 24
4 pages (3 full pages and 2 panels that are each about a third)

While almost all of the mutants in the Fortress are distracted fighting the human coalition, Moira takes this opportunity to try to destroy the box. Xavier, Magneto, and Katherine Pryde manage to stop her. And Legion confronts her.

Legion wipes out the attacking voices with a wave of his arms. And then he proceeds to put everything back to normal.

I know a lot of people on s_d are going to be happy about this Chamber development.

And now some more aftermath

X-men Legacy 248

4 pages

Legion then grows to giant size. He's like the Marvel equivalent of Dial H for Hero now.

Chamber doesn't actually appear in this issue but we do get some clarification.

People have been wondering about Revenant since she first appeared in teasers for this crossover, we now learn just who and what she is.

Here is the cover Marvel released for X-men Legacy 258

They're finally coming back.

Over all I really enjoyed this crossover. Though the large battle against the Human Coalition in the last issue seemed a bit pointless, but there was a lot of good too.

I feel like it used the massive cast of X-men really well.
It repowered classic Chamber.
Frenzy is getting a lot of spotlight and is being brought to the forefront.
X-men Legacy is going to become an actual team book again as a consequence with Xavier, Magneto, Rogue, Gambit, Frenzy and Legion.
Rachel, Havok and Polaris are coming back
It looks like there are going to be lasting repercussions on some of the other X-men like Hellion and Pixie (Who had a really fun page in this issue that I wish I could have posted), more repercussions than actually I expected.

On the not so good there seems to be some Rogue/Magneto stuff coming up. Yeah not looking forward to that.

Jono! <3

Look, we're very sorry about the whole renewed trauma, no more eating/snogging/booze thing. Really. There's enough angst on Utopia.

But you're back to looking awesome, honey!

Also: Oh, look! It's Cyclops having a rare moment of fidelity! Isn't that cute?

I really liked the Pixie moment too -- how Nightmare scares her, but at the same time, she kinda *liked* being her. And Emma, unsurprisingly, recommends that Meghan keep a little bad girl in herself.

Emma is projecting. Remembering how she got Scott in the first place.

Aw, Scott's actually pretending to care about Rachel for a few minutes. I almost buy it. I hate how his relationship with Emma is going to have no real repercussions after this event. We couldn't possibly have their shaky foundation crumble.

But... but but but I'm very happy that they're FINALLY bringing Rachel, Alex and Lorna back! In what appears to be a team book! That looks blessedly Scott and Emma free! This could be really awesome.

So Jono is now officially the ONLY mutant in the whole wide world whose powers were magically recreated despite everyone and their deity swearing blind such a thing wasn't possible? I wish it had happened to a character I actually cared about, but a lot of people will be happy, so that's okay.

Also, Rachel might have an out in that her natural mutant power, as opposed to the ones she inherited from her parents, is a form of temporally based astral projection.

Rachel is an odd case, Scott is her father, but not OUR Scott, so there's no real reason he should feel any actual paternal feelings for her at all. Perhaps view her as a distant niece or something, but his daughter? Not really.

I may look into the trade, this looked pretty good all told.

I'm liking David's hair. And propensity for being topless.

The art looks ok, but I'm still not a big fan of Gambit and Rogue's current costumes...meh...

Oh and that Omac-wannabee is rockin' an epic mohawk! XD

Ugh, don't remind me. I miss Jean Grey purely for how BS that whole affair was. Emphasis on the word AFFAIR.

So, when did Moira McTaggert become god and evil?

So the whole thing was an elaborate excuse to 'fix' Legion, bring back or repower some old characters and introduce a couple new ones?

Not saying that's inherently bad, mind.

<3 Pixie for actually saying OMG.

Considering she was just a construct of Legion's mind.. He must have some conflicting emotions about her.

Pretty sure she was just the personality tied to David's reality warping power set.

Yeah they've always been a bit distant, don't think Scott ever really got over having a grown daughter he doesn't remember. He doesn't want to deal with it and honestly I don't entirely blame him. Though he's still a dick for doing it.

There's a reason Rachael eventually took her mother's surname.

Not just doesn't remember, but has no shared existence with, at all, since she was conceived after their timelines parted ways.

The fact she spent so long on the team, even taking the name and costume of Phoenix and telling a not-surprisingly rather disconcerted Cyclops "It's got nothing to do with YOU that I'm using this name and costume" without revealing their sort-of relationship also never sat right with me. It upped her angst factor significantly, but angst has never appealled to me that much.

There's a reason Rachael eventually took her mother's surname.

That never impressed me as a dramatic beat to be honest (She's free to do so of course, but her reasoning seemed a little.. childish I suppose) It appeared to be because she didn't like the fact her not-Dad had moved on from her not-Mom and found love with someone even MORE not-Mom.

Yeah, but his powers were probably recreated through the work of Clan Akkaba, not what happened with Legion. End of New Excalibur #9 (Story name: Chamber) noted that Jono had powers right there and then, at Omega-level.

I have to admit, I'm happy about it? If for no other reason than we've lost the Blue Lips of Doooooom!

Ah right, though if ANYONE had had their powers restored through Clan Thingie, one has to wonder how absurdly good they are if they are better than the combined scientific and sorcerous resources that Hank had access to. It just smacks of plot contrivance, as Jono had still been depowered by Wanda, to the extent his entire mutant genome was excised (Though him surviving M-Day was silly enough to begin with)

cyclops only just started feeling closer to her (almost everyone else including Jean and Alex already concidered her his daughter and thier family)

i actually like this scene. I think Cyclops always cared for Rachel, he just has always had issues with showing people how he feels.

Not saying he wasn't a dick, but eh. anyays, i just love that he finally showed it.

OMGITSRACHEL!!!

You know THAT never even occured to me! im soooo excited that they are finally getting her back, and loved that moment between them.

also whats wrong with Pixie's wings?

Oh God, believe me, I agree with you on the fact that he survived M-Day being dumb. Unless, of course, his X-gene was never actually turned all the way off. (Though I did write an angsty little ficlet where he did finally die even after being rescued by the X-Men.)

And...well, Clan Akkaba is headed by Apocalypse. Who has been around since ancient Egypt and has always been about combined scientific and sorcerous resources of his own. So I guess I'm not surprised that somebody who has been around that long would know what he was doing? (Okay, Ozymandias knew what he was doing. But still.)

Does the preview have Rachel with her hound markings again? That's odd...

Fingers crossed on them bringing Rachel back! And I hope she doesn't have any things like fractured brain or a psychic coma or multiple insane personalities because of this.

Yay, Rachel!
