In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like.

Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.

The intent of these posts is to chat and have some fun and, sure, vent a little as required. Reasoned debate is fine, as always, but if you have to ask if something is going over the line, think carefully before posting please.

Normal board rules about conduct and behaviour still apply, of course.

It's been suggested that, if discussing spoilers for recent media events, it might be advisable to consider using the rot13 method to prevent other members seeing spoilers in passing.

The world situation is the world situation. If you're following the news, you know it as much as I do, if you're not, then there are better sources than me.

The Olympics came to an end with a Closing Ceremony which appeared to include Warlock (Even his artistic creator thought so) and a host of Putty Patrollers taking a stroll through Olympic history on a long abandoned Earth, oh and a guy playing a piano vertically. And that was before Tom Cruise ziplined in.

And I feel I would be doing a dis-service to this community, and my own fondness for double entendres, if I were to let the Olympics pass without noting the story of French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati, whose valiant efforts were derailed when he managed to clear the bar, but his.. ummm... little Anthony (or rather BIG Anthony truth be told) very publicly did not. He didn't place in finals but he did win a place in our hearts, (some of) our libidos, as well as allegedly having been offered a sweet deal by at least one online porn site. And oh, how the headlines wrote themselves.

Elon Musk and Donald Trump appear to be reconciled (or supervillainously allied) and had a mutual love-in on X/Twitter (My apologies for any mental images that just went through your head, but I heard it phrased like that on the media this morning and if I have to live with that sort of nightmare fuel, so do you!)

The Umbrella Academy's final season dropped on netflix and I haven't had a chance to watch any of it yet.

I did have other things to mention, but I have to dash for a train on one of the hottest days of the year, so have fun!

The Ms. Marvel series was cancelled with #23. However, the end of that issue teased an appearance from Sabretooth. The issue must have been ready to go when the series was cancelled as it was later printed in the Marvel Super-Heroes anthology series, where Marvel dumped its old inventory stories.

The Thy Kingdom Come story arc continues on and as you might expect from countless TOS episodes, Gog turns out to be a 'god' whose drawbacks outweigh his positives, so he's summarily superhero-battled. All his miracles are undone, aside from Lance's transformation into Magog, and the toys are firmly put back in the box. Power Girl comes back from Earth-2 and everything.

I hold that this three-TPB arc probably could've wrapped up sooner, as Gog pretty self-evidently was going to turn out to be a rotter the whole time, but let's not get into pacing in superhero comics.

Kingdom Come Superman returns to his own world too, leaving me feeling it was all a bit pointless to give him a big adventure in-between panels of KC. It just feels to me that if he had days or weeks to process what he thought had happened with Captain Marvel, he wouldn't have been in the state he was in. But then, I don't hold KC to be such a sacred cow that I don't think an author can take a big swing on it. Just "oh, that's been around long enough that we're getting nostalgic riffs on it? Kay."

Which brings us to Magog.
