"Alicia is an artist. She's someone who cares about ideas and concepts and art and beauty and truth. Ben is much more grounded in dealing with the world: 'Truth and beauty are important, but what are we getting for dinner?' sort of thing. [...] He’s got a shyness to him under there. He's got a big, huge heart. Really wants to help people, really wants the best for everyone he meets. He's so sincere and almost guileless; he's not going to sugarcoat for you. He's not going to try to manipulate you to get what he wants. He's just going to tell you the truth as he sees it and do what he thinks is right."

I’m reading DC comics and they’re great but they’re-- I’m picking up these minis, everything is an Elseworld. I’m picking up all of these 12 issue minis and it’s like, “Hey, wow, this is great," I just picked up the first issue of Danger Street, and it’s like, “Does this happen in continuity? Doesn’t it?” That’s not a question I ask myself anymore, and I kind of feel like that’s something almost lost because it’s the same when I’m also reading Chip’s Batman, which is brilliant. [...] I pick that up and there’s no switch in my head that flips between that and Danger Street or Human Target. It’s like, okay, this is a single item, a sort of closed off universe that’s based on characters I know. The difference being that Chip’s feels more “official” but I don’t really know anymore. Whereas with Marvel I can say with absolute certainty that if you see Janet Van Dyne right now in the new Wasp #1, that is exactly the same person who’s in Tales to Astonish #44. That’s the same person. That’s the same character. Yeah, we’ve tweaked a little bit, the sliding timeline’s happened, but it’s the same. And I think that’s important. I think that’s something that’s worth keeping around. -- Al Ewing
