Man, the Until Dawn movie was such a letdown. I was fine with it doing its own thing and being an in-name-only “adaptation” because the premise is great and the trailer looked promising, but not only does it not take advantage of its premise at all, halfway through it decides it really is a tie-in to the game but the lore and timeline of events between them are so diametrically opposed that it makes no sense.
